Behind the City's Glamour, Surabaya's Children Continue to Struggle for Education

In commemoration of National Education Day, the Kasih Pengharapan Foundation has announced plans to establish a free junior high school (SMP) in the western region of Surabaya. This initiative extends the foundation's commitment to providing educational access to underprivileged and economically disadvantaged children, following the successful operation of early childhood education (PAUD) and elementary school levels through the Pelita Permai Free School.

The establishment of this junior high school aims to prevent school dropouts and support the government's 12-year compulsory education program. However, this effort faces challenges in providing classroom facilities that meet the requirements for establishing educational institutions as stipulated in the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 36 of 2014, which includes feasibility studies and standards for facilities and infrastructure.

In response to these challenges, PT Superior Prima Sukses Tbk (BLES), a lightweight brick manufacturer under the Blesscon brand, has provided support in the form of material donations for the construction of junior high school classrooms. This assistance is expected to expedite the construction process and meet the established educational infrastructure standards.

"We are deeply grateful for the support from PT Superior Prima Sukses Tbk. This assistance is significant in realizing the dreams of children to continue their education to higher levels without financial burden. With this support, we can continue our mission to prevent school dropouts and provide them with opportunities for a better future," said Liana Christanty, Chairperson of the Kasih Pengharapan Foundation, on Friday morning (May 30).

Yusuf Permadi, Brand Manager of PT Superior Prima Sukses Tbk (BLES), stated, "We believe that education is the fundamental foundation of national development. Through this assistance, we hope to contribute to equal access to quality education in Indonesia."

Through this collaboration, it is hoped that more private sectors will participate in educational initiatives for the nation's children, providing them with opportunities to continue their education and supporting the government's efforts in creating an educated and competitive young generation.
